Academic Advising

Taking advantage of the many resources available to you at UC Davis is key to your academic and personal success. Academic advisors are a critical resource and provide holistic guidance, connect students with relevant academic resources and empower students to pursue their personal, academic and professional goals through meaningful educational experiences. Each student’s academic journey is unique and may have some unexpected twist, which is why it is important to engage with an academic advisor throughout your time on campus.

College, Major, Minor and Graduate Advising

To help you succeed at UC Davis, multiple advisors are available to you within your academic college, including college, major and peer advisors.

In addition, three professional schools offer advising in undergraduate minor programs:

Academic Planning Tool for Undergraduate Students

OASIS (Online Advising Student Information System) provides tools and services to help you throughout your academic career at UC Davis. For example, you can fill out a worksheet to track your degree progress, use the site's GPA tools and graphs to better understand your academic performance, or sort the interactive course list to see which courses you've taken in a given subject.

Specialty Advising Programs

University Honors Program (UHP)

- honors academic advisors are assigned to either first- and second-year or third- and fourth-year students to ensure that participants receive specialized assistance throughout their academic journey. UHP advisors do not replace major advisors who have a deep understanding of department curriculum requirements. Rather, they focus on honors curriculum while advising and referring to programs, resources and individuals that augment the educational experience. They also serve as advocates that review and guide participant persistence and success.

Health Professions Advising (HPA)

- the Office of Health Professions Advising serves all UC Davis undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni pursuing any health profession or allied health field. Advisors use a holistic approach while providing support and feedback during academic and application preparation.

Student-Athlete Academic Advisors

- if you are a student-athlete at UC Davis, you will typically have at least three academic advisors: an advisor assigned by sport, a college advisor and a major advisor (if you have declared major). The Student-Athlete Advisors work with student-athletes from their assigned teams from the time they arrive on campus until they graduate from UC Davis.
